HAPPY BIRTHDAY CANDICE BERGEN
MARVELOUS NUDES UNZIPPED BY LORAC
I love to see a fresh looking nude eye put together with a nice bright lip color for summer. Or a deep smoky monochromatic eye done with a pale glossy mouth. You can achieve either one with this neutral eye shadow palette by LORAC. It's called "Unzipped" and contains 10 matte or shimmering shades to let your imagination go wild, all in sexy nude long lasting colors.

DIANA VREELAND
THEN VOGUE, I HAD CARTE BLANCHE, UNTIL SOME UPSTARTS THOUGHT ME TOO OLD AND TOO EXUBERANT FOR THE TASK. AND WHEN THEY THOUGHT THEY HAD SEEN THE BEST OF ME, HERE COMES PHOENIX, I GO TO THE METROPOLITAN MUSEUM.
NEVER LET ANYONE MAKE YOU FEEL LIKE YOUR MOMENT HAS PASSED. NOW IS ALWAYS THE TIME, SO NEVER LOOK BACK, LET'S GET CRACKING! I LIKE TO BE ON THE UP SIDE OF THINGS, OF LIFE. THE REST IS FAIT DIVERS."
DIANA VREELAND in INTERVIEW WITH MR LIBERMANN
STEPHANIE SEYMOUR PHOTOGRAPHED BY AVEDON
I worked with Stephanie, who was then being called the "baby Joan Severance" because she was just starting out and did resemble Joan a bit. Joan later went into acting after modeling. Anyway we were booked for Vogue for a special editor's seminar about what makeup and fashion looks were coming in for the Fall season. Stephanie couldn't have been more then 15 years old and was such a beauty. Roxanne Lowit took the photos. And I was all excited to be working for Vogue. Stephanie went on to become a super model in her own right and I had the pleasure of working with her several more times. She is a wonderful woman and continues to be a great beauty to this day.

"ONCE UPON A TIME"
MET MUSEUM COSTUME EXHIBIT GALA "PUNK CHAOS TO COUTURE"
Well, the big event of the season took place on the red carpet of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City last night. And as usual it was a mish mash of fabulousness. The elite got into the spirit of the evening's theme on one side or the other, Punk, Chaos, or Couture.
I think the most disappointing was Debbie Harry who chose to wear a little feather hat that was a little too aging. But I see she made up for it after dinner, when she changed clothes, put on a wild wig and sang for her supper, live, in The Temple of Dendur, for the dancing darlings.
Then the big and busty model Kate Upton (who I was excited to see Anna Wintour allowed to attend for a second time) just bored the crowd in a sea foam green floor length scoop neck schmata by DVF.
But poor desperate KK and her date Kayne were given the royal nod (Anna choked on the reality "star" name last year) but who really cares cause she is all knocked up anyway.
Anne Hathaway looked "funky" couture and shocked us by bleaching her short hair blonde.
But I'm not sure what Nicole Richie was thinking with her silver white locks. Oh well, ever since they announced she and Jessica Simpson as "fashion icons" on that TV show they are supposed to be judging young design talent on, I have been majorly confused.
I'm also confused as to why top models don't know how to stand in front of a camera to have their photo taken by the press. Isn't that what they get paid to do? The actresses you can understand, a little more, as to why they look so uncomfortable (locked knees and arms hanging by their side), but professional models? Mind you there is the exception to the rule on both sides, but too many look like deer caught in the proverbial head lights. Except for super model/sports figure wife, Gisele Bundchen, who is so rich these days, she just didn't give a damn and gave some kind of wild punk salute with her tongue out. I think her PR firm has asked that that shot be removed, as I see it's been replaced by a more lady like pose.
Actress and event co-chair Mara Rooney looked very punk couture. But then for Mara not to look a bit strange would be more of an accomplishment.
Miley Cyrus was there but must have used the same stylist from V magazine that hates her.
This should have been Nicki Minaj's night, she of the pink hair etc., but no, she looks like a lost hooker at the Pimp's Ball. I just don't think the singer/rapper is all that talented and was like a fish out of water. She should have gone as a mermaid.......that would have been sickening, as they say.
Perhaps I'm just bitter, because in the days before the "Ice Queen" took over, the dinner portion of the night was still private, but there were a limited number of tickets made available to the public for the dancing in the Temple of Dendur portion. And it was fantastic fun and all due to Diana Vreeland!
I went to several galas and was even photographed with Janice Dickinson for the party page in ELLE magazine. The theme that evening was "India" and I wore a day-glow pink nehru jacket by Stephen Sprouse. An electric blue silk scarf wrapped as a turban, and tons of insane but chic Billy Boy* pearl jewelry. It was divine, if I do say so myself.
Another theme was called "Man and Horse" and super model Carmen and I arrived by horse drawn carriage. I wore a Anthony Price black silk bolero suit, and had my long hair marceled to one side into a ponytail tied with a black lace bow. One of the cater waiters gave me "first prize for best hair of the night". And you know their the people that really know what's up.
(Big thanks to ELLE.COM for the photos. Go there to see the rest)

JANICE DICKINSON - THE PRINCE OF INDIA
For this picture Janice's skin was all painted blue, inspired by the god Lord Kirshna. I used blue liquid foundation like they use in the theater. When I first started to apply the color Janice freaked out, asking me what I was doing. But after she calmed down I lined her eyes with a gold liner on top of a turquoise shimmer powder. I used purple on her lips and fuchsia as a highlight under her darkened brows. Along with the traditional red bindi jewel between her eyebrows. And a touch of fuchsia on her cheeks.
We were very fortunate that one of our producers knew of a collection of antique Maharajas jewelry made of real diamonds, emeralds, rubies and pearls cut in the ancient flat cut. The fashion stylist CHRISTINE DE LASSUS borrowed a simple beige silk suit by MORISANE, and added a hand made brocade turban, with brocade pantaloons for the trained monkey that sat on Janice's shoulder.
For the photo shoot we went out to Queens N.Y. to a beautiful Indian Temple, where we also found strands of red and yellow flowers that had just been used in a ceremony inside the temple. I also had a pair of custom made spiked sandals for Janice to stand on (don't worry there was a metal plate between the spikes and her bare feet) that I had seen in an issue of National Geographic magazine about India. That's me, much younger and with hair down to my shoulders, going in to touch up the makeup. As you can see we had a lot of fun working with JANICE DICKINSON. And by the way, she told me she kept the blue makeup on after the shoot to show her boyfriend and they throughly enjoyed themselves that night.
