MET MUSEUM COSTUME EXHIBIT GALA "PUNK CHAOS TO COUTURE"

Well, the big event of the season took place on the red carpet of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City last night. And as usual it was a mish mash of fabulousness. The elite got into the spirit of the evening's theme on one side or the other, Punk, Chaos, or Couture.

I think the most disappointing was Debbie Harry who chose to wear a little feather hat that was a little too aging. But I see she made up for it after dinner, when she changed clothes, put on a wild wig and sang for her supper, live, in The Temple of Dendur, for the dancing darlings.

Then the big and busty model Kate Upton (who I was excited to see Anna Wintour allowed to attend for a second time) just bored the crowd in a sea foam green floor length scoop neck schmata by DVF.
But poor desperate KK and her date Kayne were given the royal nod (Anna choked on the reality "star" name last year) but who really cares cause she is all knocked up anyway.

Anne Hathaway looked "funky" couture and shocked us by bleaching her short hair blonde.
But I'm not sure what Nicole Richie was thinking with her silver white locks. Oh well, ever since they announced she and Jessica Simpson as "fashion icons" on that TV show they are supposed to be judging young design talent on, I have been majorly confused.

I'm also confused as to why top models don't know how to stand in front of a camera to have their photo taken by the press. Isn't that what they get paid to do? The actresses you can understand, a little more, as to why they look so uncomfortable (locked knees and arms hanging by their side), but professional models? Mind you there is the exception to the rule on both sides, but too many look like deer caught in the proverbial head lights. Except for super model/sports figure wife, Gisele Bundchen, who is so rich these days, she just didn't give a damn and gave some kind of wild punk salute with her tongue out. I think her PR firm has asked that that shot be removed, as I see it's been replaced by a more lady like pose.

Actress and event co-chair Mara Rooney looked very punk couture. But then for Mara not to look a bit strange would be more of an accomplishment.

Miley Cyrus was there but must have used the same stylist from V magazine that hates her.

This should have been Nicki Minaj's night, she of the pink hair etc., but no, she looks like a lost hooker at the Pimp's Ball. I just don't think the singer/rapper is all that talented and was like a fish out of water. She should have gone as a mermaid.......that would have been sickening, as they say.

Perhaps I'm just bitter, because in the days before the "Ice Queen" took over, the dinner portion of the night was still private, but there were a limited number of tickets made available to the public for the dancing in the Temple of Dendur portion. And it was fantastic fun and all due to Diana Vreeland!

I went to several galas and was even photographed with Janice Dickinson for the party page in ELLE magazine. The theme that evening was "India" and I wore a day-glow pink nehru jacket by Stephen Sprouse. An electric blue silk scarf wrapped as a turban, and tons of insane but chic Billy Boy* pearl jewelry. It was divine, if I do say so myself.

Another theme was called "Man and Horse" and super model Carmen and I arrived by horse drawn carriage. I wore a Anthony Price black silk bolero suit, and had my long hair marceled to one side into a ponytail tied with a black lace bow. One of the cater waiters gave me "first prize for best hair of the night". And you know their the people that really know what's up.
