"In the 1970s when I first came to New York, I lived on East 54 Street. Not far from Garbo's building, so I was told. One warm day as I was walking to my apartment I saw a women in the distance. I noticed her bright pink lipstick. I kept looking at her lips as she got closer. She was dressed in a teal and black print cotton summer dress with her shoulder length hair loose and blowing gently in the soft breeze that day. As she got closer and closer, I was still checking out that pink lip color with it's lavender undertone. I had one like it in my makeup kit that I bought from Dior. Just as we crossed paths and as she was going by me, I realized she was Greta Garbo! I was so shocked and excited as I turned to watch her walk away, that to the next lady coming up behind me, I blurted out, THAT WAS GRETA GARBO! She turned around to look and said, IT WAS? I went on home to my apartment thinking, this could only have happened in New York City. And I'll never forget it."
