Today is Linda Morand's (aka The Grand Morand) birthday, she is 67 years old and still looks like a women in her 40's. Which she attributes to her routine of facial exercises, her spiritual beliefs, and a secret skin cream she developed years ago.
From the cover of MADEMOISELLE magazine (she was one of the first models to sport the Vidal Sassoon haircut) Linda was catapulted to Paris, where she was the muse for designers Pierre Cardin and Karl Lagerfeld, until she met her future husband Philippe Forquet. A very handsome young actor and also French royalty, as Philippe Forquet Viscount de Dorne. His family discouraged Linda to continue her career as a model after the marriage. But after 2 years of a passionate but troubled time together, they choose to move on and get a divorce.
Linda returned to the world of high fashion traveling all over Europe shooting editorial for Vogue and Bazaar. Linda then discovered Germany and a very handsome German Baron, with whom she had her first child, a beautiful little girl. Again Linda was unable to continue modeling. So when her daughter was old enough they moved to New York, where Linda's stunning similarity to Jackie Kennedy created a media frenzy. Helmut Newton even photographed Linda for a multi page spread in Paris Vogue, wearing her then long dark hair full and slightly flipped at the ends and a pair of oversized sunglasses. The resemblance was so strong Jackie O herself complimented Morand when they met one night at a society night spot.
After some time goes by Linda meets a very handsome slightly younger man. They marry and have 3 more beautiful children, two girls and a boy. Life is wonderful living in South Carolina where together they started a very successful modeling school. Years go by until one day Linda comes home to an empty house. Her husband ran off with their pretty young assistant and all four of their children. Linda was devastated and spent years and thousands of dollars to find her children and reclaim them through the court system. Today Linda is a proud grandmother of four.
She created the first website to catalog the models of the 1960's Mini Mad Mod 60s.com. Is currently working on a TV special called The Super Models Hall of Fame and writing several books and an important documentary on the fashion stars of the 50's. Plus Linda has some other projects in the works that she cannot discuss at this time, that look to be quite exciting. HAPPY BIRTHDAY DARLING!
