This top and bottom look like something out of the bargain bin at a unknown (for good reason) designers sample sale. But this is DIOR one of the most prestigious fashion houses in the world. SMH

Bert Stern, an elite commercial photographer who helped redefine advertising and fashion art in the 1950s and ’60s but is perhaps best known for his painfully raw and poignant photos of Marilyn Monroe, taken for Vogue six weeks before her death, died on June 25 2013 at his home in Manhattan. He was 83.

BROOKE SHIELDS CHILD MODEL

I had this photo all picked out and was going to post about the sexualization of child models. I remember seeing Brooke being photographed, for what I think was the first time, wearing makeup and hair like an adult fashion model. And many years later I had the pleasure of working with Brooke for a magazine cover, and met Terri her mother at that same photo shoot. Anyway, I was getting ready to write this when I visited the blog of a fellow makeup artist named Meli Pennington. She had posted the same photo of Brooke and wrote a great article on child models. THE LEOPARD EYE

Start by applying white eye shadow over the entire eyelid up to the eyebrows. Then take a dark brown shadow and wing it out from the corner of the eye and blend into the crease. Line along the lash line with black liquid eyeliner accenting the inner corner of the eye, and fill the inside of the lower eyelid with black pencil. Take some black and some gold liquid eyeliner and create leopard spots on the outer half of the eyelid and along the sweep. Add some white highlighter under the brow bone. Finnish with lots of black mascara and add some of the gold eyeliner to bottom lashes for effect if you like. Go to BeautyAddict.com for more amazing eye designs.

Here's a polaroid of Dani, the same model as my earlier post but with a simple glamour makeup. I still feel she is one of the most beautiful faces I've had the pleasure to work with. Sorry but I can't remember the photographer's name.

Danielle and I started out in the business around the same time, and she became one of my favorite model faces to makeup. This photo was from a story I was creative director for and produced for a magazine called Beautex out of Los Angeles. The article was about "Up and Coming Young Designers in New York". They wanted a fantasy look for this shot and so I created this look.
