Jane Russell, the buxom brunette bombshell who became one of Hollywood's leading sex symbols of the 1940s and 1950s, died Monday of respiratory failure in her California home. She was 89.

Pier 59 vs Milk

It's war between rival New York fashion and photography studio honchos Federico Pignatelli at Pier 59 and Mazdack Rassi at Milk Studios.

Pignatelli has filed a lawsuit against Milk Studios -- the scene of some New York Fashion Week events -- alleging Rassi tampered with Google Maps by making them appear to show that his Chelsea Piers studio is actually located in north Harlem.

In the case, filed in California, where Pignatelli and Rassi also have studios, Pignatelli alleges that Rassi has been aggressively trying to poach his clients and employees. "Whatever I do with my group, he copies," Pignatelli told us. "He is very bothered that I am the leader in the business."

John Galliano arrested and suspended......

The British fashion genius has been suspended as the head designer of Christian Dior, following his arrest for allegedly assaulting and hurling anti-Semitic remarks at a couple sitting on a café terrace in Paris.

'Dior affirms with the utmost conviction its policy of zero tolerance towards any antisemitic or racist words or behaviour,' Dior Chief Executive Sidney Toledano said in a statement on Friday.

'Pending the results of the inquiry, Christian Dior has suspended John Galliano from his responsibilities,' the statement added. The arrest comes just before Paris Fashion Week.

John Galliano isn't going down without a fight.

The British fashion icon plans to sue a couple for defamation after they claimed he hurled anti-Semitic slurs at them at a restaurant in Paris, resulting in his suspension as head designer of Christian Dior.

"There was an altercation," Galliano's lawyer Stephane Zerbib acknowledged to AFP on Friday. "Mr. Galliano was verbally attacked, but at no point did he make any such insults, and we have witness testimony that backs this up."

The heated exchange occurred Thursday at La Perle café in the trendy Marais district, which has historically been the home of the area's Jewish community.

French newspaper Le Figaro gained access to the police reports and identified the couple as Géraldine Bloch, 35, and Philippe Virgiti, 41.

The female victim was interviewed by Europe 1, but asked that she remain anonymous.

She told the network that Galliano sat down at a table next to her and a male friend of Asian decent around 9 p.m. The designer then ordered a mojito and called the woman a "b---h".

The woman said as she called the cops, the 50-year-old designer continued "Dirty Jewish face, you should be dead. F-----g Asian bastard, I will kill you." The woman said she had no idea who Galliano was until a nearby diner told her.

It is still not clear why the argument began in the first place.

Galliano was briefly arrested and detained by police. Dior's Chief Executive Sidney Toledano said Friday that pending the results of the inquiry, Galliano was immediately suspended.

In France making anti-Semitic remarks is punishable by up to six months in prison. But so far, no charges have been filed against Galliano.

The arrest comes just days before Paris Fashion Week, where the Christian Dior show is scheduled to take place on March 4.

"Christian Dior without John Galliano would be a huge pity." Vogue Italia editor Franca Sozzani told London's Telegraph.

Galliano's lawyer said legal action will be taken against those making anti-Semitism allegations against him, adding the designer "is not at all in this state of mind (and) will explain later."

The hairstylist Guido Palau gave this aging glamour girl a Croydon facelift, creating what he called “a dominatrix ponytail” using Redken Blow Away, a gel for blow-drying, and Shine Flash for serious gloss (models wore berets made of PVC by the milliner Stephen Jones secured with black chin straps). Nails were painted a shiny peach Jacobs chose from the polish brand Zoya. “Marc is very hands-on,” said the manicurist Elisa Ferri, pun unintended. “He has an amazing eye.”

ELIZABETH TAYLOR IN HOSPITAL

Screen legend Elizabeth Taylor is back in the hospital for treatment of congestive heart disease.

The 78-year-old Oscar-winning star was admitted to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center earlier this week and it was unclear how long she would remain there, spokeswoman Sally Morrison said.

"This issue is being addressed," Morrison said in a statement. "She is currently being kept in the hospital for monitoring."

Taylor was diagnosed in 2004 with congestive heart failure and had heart surgery in 2009.

Theoni V. Aldredge R.I.P.

Theoni V. Aldredge, who designed the costumes for hundreds of Broadway and Off Broadway productions, including “Annie,” “A Chorus Line” and “La Cage aux Folles,” and who won an Academy Award for her work on “The Great Gatsby,” died on January 21 2011 in Stamford, Conn. She was 88. The cause was cardiac arrest.

Devon Aoki expecting baby........

Model-actress Devon Aoki is pregnant by her fiancé, James Bailey. The Benihana heir got engaged to Boston-born Bailey last year, and she's expecting for the first time. A rep for Aoki confirmed, "Devon and James are extremely happy. They became engaged over the summer, and she has just found out she is pregnant." The 28-year-old, New York-born beauty's Japanese father was Hiroaki Aoki, a former Olympic wrestler and the founder and owner of the Benihana restaurant chain. She started modeling at age 13 and three years later replaced Naomi Campbell as the face of Versace. Aoki has done campaigns for Chanel, YSL, Hugo Boss and Lancome, and her movies include "2 Fast 2 Furious" and "Sin City." While he couldn't say when the baby's due or when the wedding will be, her rep added, "She just finished filming 'Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Undead,' so she'll probably take a break because of her pregnancy."

What: Youth Code, a new line of anti-aging products from L’Oréal.

Why bother: Genetic research has made a great impact on skin care in the recent past, and this has not been lost on the cosmetics powerhouse L’Oréal Paris. It has been testing ways to trigger skin’s repair gene to increase cell turnover (and reveal younger-looking skin) at the Saint-Louis Hospital Skin Research Institute in Paris for a decade. The team, led by the institute’s founder, Louis Dubertret, discovered that a combination of regenerative Biolystat, the collagen-producing molecule adenosine and peptides — which the brand is collectively referring to as GenActiv Technology — helps stimulate the DNA.

Male Model Charles DeVoe Dies

A stunningly handsome male model who spent a month in a coma after a surfing accident in the Rockaways has died, sources said Monday.

Charles DeVoe, 28, had been hospitalized since the Nov. 12 incident. He died Friday.

FDNY divers had to cut DeVoe free after his ankle tether became snagged on a wooden pole. He was in the water for several minutes before he could be rescued.

DeVoe's agent, Jason Kanner, called DeVoe "a lovely kid who was respected and loved by many."

"This is a stunning and tragic loss for all those who loved and cared for him," Kanner said.

DeVoe came to New York in 2004 to pursue modeling and immediately made a splash.

He signed to Major Model Management and posed for fashion photography heavyweights like Bruce Weber, Steven Klein and Mario Testino.

He appeared in ad campaigns for Dolce Gabbana, Abercrombie & Fitch, Anne Klein, Buffalo Jeans, and alongside Brazilian bombshell Gisele Bundchen for Stefanel.

His face graced the pages of magazines such as Details, GQ, Vogue Nippon, V Magazine, and Arena Hommes Plus.

DeVoe, who was from Philadelphia, chose modeling after graduating from the University of Colorado at Boulder, said his parents David and Laura Lane DeVoe.

PARIS VOGUE EDITOR STEPS DOWN

In a surprise move, Carine Roitfeld said she will step down as editor in chief of French Vogue at the end of January.

“It’s 10 years that I’m editor of the magazine,” Ms. Roitfeld, one of the most influential editors in the fashion business, said. “I think it’s time to do something different.”

Are Claire Danes' luscious lashes giving her hell? The Emmy Award-winning actress joined Brooke Shields this summer as a celebrity spokesperson for Latisse, an eyelash growth treatment from the makers of Botox -- but she seems to have suffered one of the product's side effects.

Danes, in a flouncy dress, touts, "When Your Lashes Grow, Your Lashes Show," while showing off longer, darker lashes in a TV and online commercial with the list of possible adverse reactions.

In a video diary on the Latisse Web site documenting her 16-week journey, Danes admitted, "When I first started using Latisse, I did actually have a side effect, the skin around my eyes was a little bit red that lasted for about a week. But since then, no, I haven't had any side effects."

However, a source claims that Danes' makeup artist has to plaster on concealer to cover the purplish and yellowish shade. "It is hard to cover it up," the source said.

A spokesperson for Latisse told Page Six, "We can only speak to what Claire has shared with us regarding her experience with Latisse, which is that she has been pleased with her results and continues to use the product. "Claire's team has shared with us that she has not experienced skin hyperpigmentation following use of Latisse," the spokesperson told us.

"Skin-darkening is a less common side effect . . . and typically occurs close to where Latisse is applied on the skin. This has been reported to be reversible in most patients upon discontinuation of Latisse."
