From Diana Vreeland's darling to business woman Naomi Sims, considered the "first black supermodel" by some, died of cancer at age 61, Saturday, August 2, 2009, in Newark, New Jersey.
Sims led a long and successful career as a model and then as a designer of collections of wigs and cosmetics for black women.
